Laura Lorini

Researcher
Biography
Laura Lorini obtained the bachelor's degree in Industrial Chemistry with 110/110 cum laude a.y. 2012/2013 and subsequently the master's degree in Industrial Chemistry, ARES curriculum, with 110/110 cum laude a.y. 2015/2016 at the University of Rome La Sapienza. She obtained her PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2020 with a thesis from title "Polyhydroxyalkanoates production from renewable resources" . She held a research grant in the ING-IND/25 sector from December 2019 to December 2021. From December 2021 she is an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the ING-IND/25 sector and her research activity is based on the topic "Innovative (Bio)materials for the sustainable remediation of contaminated soils and aquifers: development, characterization and hypotheses of technological implementation".
Research activity
Scientific area:
Industrial chemistry
Research activity:
Development of physico-chemical processes for chlorinated solvents, hydrocarbons and PFAS contaminated groundwater and soils remediation. In particular, water and soil treatment processes are coupled with the study of innovative bio-based materials, produced from waste streams (polyhydroxyalkanoates and biochars) or biologically synthesized (bio-surfactants), with the aim of implementing the sustainability of contaminated sites remediation from a circular economy perspective.
