Heterogeneous Catalysis Laboratory
The experimental apparatuses existing in the Lab allow to perform studies of the catalytic activity for reactions occurring at the surface of solid catalysts in the presence of gaseous mixtures, by using thermally controlled plug-flow reactors, connected to feeding lines at atmospheric pressure enabling the analyses of reactant and product concentrations by a gas-chromatograph. The detailed surface characterisation by in
situ FTIR spectroscopy is performed by quartz cell connected to a vacuum line. The study of surface species formed on the catalysts in reaction conditions is performed by a stainless-steel cell for Operando-FTIR measurements in feeding conditions and at the reaction temperatures.
