Presentazione:

The Laboratory of Photoelectrochemistry is involved in the design and characterization of materials (with photoelectrocatalytic properties), and devices that are capable of converting the luminous energy (either solar or artificial) into electrical energy. Moreover, the devices under consideration are dedicated to the production of non-fossil fuels (molecular hydrogen, carbon based artificial fuels from the (photo)electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide). The working principles of the photoactivated devices investigated are those of the dye-sensitized solar cell (a photoelectrochemical device), organic solar cells and perovskite solar cells (junction-based devices using organic, inorganic and hybrid materials). The materials of interest possess nanostructured morphologies and are employed in thin film configuration to warrant efficacious optical absorption and fast electrical transport thorugh interfaces.
